The INWSPC has teamed up with two weather fanatics from Hanford, CA and Phoenix, AZ to make a new West Coast Organization.
This new organization will cover the full states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California; as well as Western Montana.
We have decided to split the organization into three forecast zones:
Northwest - Moses Lake/Spokane, WA
Central - Hanford, CA
Southwest - Phoenix, AZ
The Northwest forecast zone will include all of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Western Montana and one county in Wyoming (contining Yellowstone Park)
The Central forecast zone will include all of California, Nevada, Utah and 11 counties in Western Wyoming.
The Southwest forecast zone will include all of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and 11 counties in Eastern Wyoming.
Each forecast zone cover 3 full states and 11 counties of different states (Wyoming for Central and Southwest Zone and 1 county in Wyoming and 10 counties in Montana for the Northwest zone)
We will be the national issuer of Rain and Thunderstorm Watches but the National Weather Forecast Center (NWFC) will be the national issuer of Severe Thunderstorm/Tornado Watches. They will also issue long term warnings/watches: Flash Flood/Flood Watches, Excessive Heat Watches/Warnings, Freeze Watches/Warnings and Blowing Dust/Dust Storm Advisories/Warnings.
We will issue the short term warnings such as Thunderstorm/Rain Warnings, Dust Storm Warnings and Flash Flood/Flood Warnings. as well as long term Winter Weather Warnings/Watches/Advisories and Special Weather Statements for Significant Weather and Tsunamis and others.
We leave the other warnings/watches/advisories to the NWS.
